If you have a roofing job that needs doing, whether it’s an entire re-roof or a quick fix of a guttering system, you may choose to work with a professional roofing contractor. More often than not, this is the best option, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Before commencing any project, you should consider asking a few questions to the roofing contractor, allowing you to get the most out of the job. Oh, and you’ll both remain on the same page, which is always a plus.
Ask for their professional advice before commencing
Most professional roofing contractors will provide you with their professional advice anyways. However, asking never hurt. Asking for this advice allows you to better understand the project yourself, perhaps including the choice of materials, the process, and the expected timeframe of the project.
This is an invaluable piece of advice, allowing you to get the most out of the work and your new roof.

This is more a piece of general advice. However, before working with the first roofing contractor you see on Facebook, ask for quotes from several. Asking for quotes allows you to choose the best option for you that fits your budget.
Following on from this, you will want to ask their professional advice before commencing the project, as previously discussed. This allows you to narrow down your selection further, ensuring you choose the best-suited professional roofing contractor for you and your project.
Ask for payment terms before the work begins
Before commencing any roofing or general contractor work, for that matter, you should ask for payment terms. Some contractors will require partial payment or a deposit up front. On the other hand, others will be happy to receive payment upon completion of the project.
Once again, this is dependent on the professional roofing contractor you choose. However, ensuring you are both on the same page is key – preventing any arguments, disagreements, and so forth.
The bottom line
It can be difficult to find the best roofing contractor for your job. However, by following these three tips outlined in this article, you will be well on your way to choosing the best contractor to suit your budget and requirements.
Oh, and a final piece of advice: to ensure a reliable experience, consider working with a roofer who is a member of the national roofing contractors association.

Their work is so good it withstood the 100 mph plus winds!
Richard - Lexington, KY 40517
In May of 2022 a very damaging hail and windstorm pretty much destroyed my entire roof in Lexington Kentucky. Due to an insurance company that did not want to pay Jacobs Ladder was able to negotiate payment for an entirely new roof, decking and all which now meets current codes. Final work was completed January of 2023. Now my roof which leaked into my kitchen from May 2022 through December of 2022 has ceased to leak onto my kitchen floor. Their work is so good it withstood the 100 mph plus winds of 3rd March 2023.
